Always Prepared

Onthefield Vision's Crisis Response Team is a group of bold and dedicated supporters who help make sure Onthefield Vision Charity is equipped to take on each new challenge.
Through their monthly gifts, team members work side by side with Onthefield Vision staff whenever and wherever lives are threatened by disaster and poverty.

Whether we're responding immediately to catastrophes like the 2007 Three Northern Ghana Regions flood in West Africa, digging in to fight the spread of poverty, providing food for malnourished children in remote areas in Ghana and elsewhere, our team members are there with us in every effort — bringing relief and long-term help to crisis zones across our areas of operation.

Childhood should be a happy and joyful time spent playing with friends, enjoying a favourite toy or game — even planning for the first day of school. Unfortunately children in the developing world spend most of their childhood struggling to survive under child labour activities, without much hope for a secure, productive and creative life.
And they face incredible odds. Of the 57 million people worldwide who died last year, 10.5 million of them were children less than five years old. The majority of these children — some 98 percent — were in developing nations. Won't you please help children and their families today?
Treatable illnesses and diseases, such as pneumonia, malaria, diarrhoea and malnutrition related anomalies become life-threatening when combined with poverty, bloody war, poor sanitation, inadequate health care and insufficient preventive measures.

Take a closer look at how Onthefield Vision is improving the lives of individual children.
For those who survive childhood, the path to a secure and happy future is still filled with obstacles and dreadful challenges. Children in developing nations have limited access to education, which limits opportunity and reduces potential and talents.
Economic, social and cultural factors keep some 125million children, especially girls, from attending school. Faced with difficult choices, parents often take girls out of school to care for younger siblings, help with household chores or work outside the home to contribute to family income. Even some were given out for marriage. In the world's least developed countries, only 14 percent of secondary school enrolment is female.

Onthefield Vision Charity's Response

Despite grim statistics, children represent one of the best opportunities for defeating poverty. Onthefield Vision strives to attack the underlying causes of poverty through health and education projects in poor communities and remote areas.
Onthefield Vision takes a well-rounded approach to improving children's health and life through:
• Water, sanitation and hygiene, education projects that enable healthier households
• Farming innovations that result in better nutrition
• Family planning projects that promote healthier mothers and infants
• Emergency response programs that meet basic needs for food and health

In children's health specifically, Onthefield Vision emphasizes disease prevention through immunization programs advocacy and health training.

Onthefield Vision works to break through the barriers of education in remote areas by:
• Promoting and facilitating discussion between parents, teachers and other community members about the benefits of education to their communities
• Working to improve opportunities for education in rural areas — with a special focus on girls and women
• Helping parents cover the cost of keeping children in school.

Onthefield Vision's education programs emphasize equal access, especially for girls, and we focus on the quality of teaching and the learning environment.

Will you join the Africa Hunger Campaign today? Your gift is so important.

Think of it this way:

It can cost as little as 28 cents to provide a nutritious meal for a hungry child. In the long term, helping families through training, education, microcredit loans and health services can provide lasting solutions for families now on the brink of disaster. Think how much your gift can do! The need is so great.
Every minute of every day, somewhere in the world especially in Africa and Asia, 21 children die of malnutrition and preventable diseases. Even when it doesn't kill, chronic malnutrition can cause blindness, deformities and brain damage. That's the shocking truth. But we don't have to accept it. We can choose to stop it.
Please support Onthefield Vision's Africa Hunger Campaign. Stand with us as we invest in proven solutions to Africa hunger and poverty — especially for the children.
