Nana Yaa, a shy seven-year-old girl from Ghana, receives many benefits through Onthefield Vision child sponsorship. She has access to an education and health facilities that might otherwise be unavailable to her. Her sponsor also sent a special cash gift for Nana Yaa and her family, which went towards things like a food, a school uniform and a school bag. This gift also helped purchase items, which benefited other children in the community such as 10 pairs of shoes and socks and 7 umbrellas, roofing materials, nails, mattresses, quilts, and pillows.
Onthefield Vision Charity staff visit often to ensure the well-being of Nana Yaa and her family. Regular health check ups are done and guidance given for her studies.
Nana Yaa’s parents are peasant farmers. Prior to Nana Yaa’s sponsorship, they had a small, thatch-roofed house with a mud floor. They had no domestic animals such as goats and sheep. Their conditions were so miserable that it was very difficult for them to run the family.
After the intervention of Onthefield Vision Charity, they made their concrete house with galvanized roofing sheet and now they have one pair goats and sheep, which are helping them to earn their family income.
If Nana Yaa were to meet her sponsors she would say, "Me dawoase (Akan word used in thanking) thank you very much for your help." It is plain to see, that despite Nana Yaa’s shyness, that in her own way, she deeply appreciates all the love and gifts that her sponsors are showering on her.
